Participants must be licensed, have ridden at least 100 miles on city streets, be able to travel at posted speeds. The rides are lead by experienced group riders who are independent of both Motorcycling Enterprises, Inc. and Motorcycling Enterprises Safe Rider, Inc. The routes will be carefully chosen to provide non-freeway riding for those who desire. Ride Policies: Every rider will receive a map/directions for the route and phone numbers of Road Captains. Safety equipment is to be worn, including a helmet, “Dry-Ride” does not refer to the weather, but means no drinking/drugs before or during the ride. Do bring rain gear, rides are rain or shine unless mentioned. Each participant will sign a liability waiver; you will be riding at your own risk. Accident Scene Management Classes: Although motorcyclists represent a small number, about 7%, of the overall motor vehicle crashes, it is shocking to realize that they are 26% more likely to die in a crash than if they were in a car. It is estimated that for every motorcycle fatality, 10 persons will survive but with life long injury related disability. Though CPR and First-Aid skills can be helpful at a crash scene, neither address specific issues related to motorcycle trauma such as Helmet Removal, Jaw Trust Rescue Breathing (a technique used to protect the neck in the event that the breathing must be supported), how to handle the crash scene, how to lift a bike off a victim who is pinned under it, etc. Basic Motorcycle Maintenance/MM: Basic motorcycle care i.e.: changing oil and other fluids, adjusting or lubricating clutch or other cables and chains, winterizing and summerizing your bike, trouble-shooting. Private Lessons and/or Tutoring: TBA Arranged at convenience of rider and MESR. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
